Bryan Johnson's Sauna: His 200°F Dry Sauna Routine and a Cheaper Home Option (2026)

By ProtocolPicksPublished

How Bryan Johnson uses his sauna every day, the Plunge sauna he owns, the checklist he gives for buying one, and a traditional sauna on Amazon that meets his minimum temperature for about a quarter of the price. Scope: This summarizes his protocol, his August 2026 sauna post and Plunge's own pages. Very hot sauna is not safe for everyone. It is not medical advice.

What the sources show

His routine: dry heat, 20 minutes, every day

His August 2026 sauna post lists: Dry sauna at 200°F (93°C) for 20 minutes, dailyAn ice pack on the groin to protect fertility markersA wool hat to stop his hair and scalp from getting too hot36 oz of mineral-supplemented water after each session His protocol lists the same daily 20-minute dry sauna but gives the temperature as 175°F (93°C). Those two numbers do not match, since 93°C is about 200°F. For most people the protocol suggests 3-5 sessions a week of 15-20 minutes at 175-194°F, and the post suggests starting around 176°F and working up.

The sauna he uses: Plunge

His post links the Plunge sauna, which Blueprint sells through a partner link and may be paid for. Blueprint's page describes it as weatherproof cedar with a HUUM Drop stone heater that heats to 230°F. The standard size fits 4-5 people and needs a 240-volt outlet. Blueprint listed it at $11,240 when we checked in October 2026, down from $12,990. Plunge and Blueprint announced a partnership in May 2026. Plunge's post says he ran 30 days of daily 20-minute sessions at 200°F in it, with lab work before and after. It is not sold on Amazon.

What he says to look for

The post gives a short checklist: Dry, Finnish-style heat, not infrared or steam. He says those formats fail to replicate the same effects because they do not get hot enough. At least 176°F (80°C), ideally able to reach 200°F or more.Built for 20-minute sessions with steady heat and no drop mid-session.Natural wood; his own sauna is cedar. Most saunas on Amazon are infrared cabins. Many run well below 176°F, so they fail his first two rules.

A traditional sauna on Amazon that meets his minimum

The OUTEXER 2-3 person sauna ($2,699.00 on Amazon when we checked in October 2026) has a 3kW stone heater and a Canadian fir cabin. The listing says it reaches 194°F (90°C) in 25-30 minutes. That clears his 176°F minimum but is a little short of the 200°F he uses. The listing calls it a steam sauna because you can pour water on the stones; skip the water and it runs dry. It comes with a thermometer, a hygrometer and a sand timer. It needs a 240-volt circuit, so plan on an electrician. It is fir rather than cedar, and it is a match by type, not his unit.

What the sources do not show

The post and Plunge's pages are written by Bryan Johnson's company and its sauna partner, and both earn from sales. None of the sources tests an Amazon sauna or compares saunas head to head. They describe his routine and his results, not outcomes for anyone else. Sauna at these temperatures is not safe for everyone, so check with a clinician first if you have heart or blood pressure problems or are pregnant.
