Does Bryan Johnson Use a White Noise Machine? His Bedroom Setup

By ProtocolPicksPublished

What Bryan Johnson's protocol says about noise, darkness, temperature and bedding in the bedroom, which parts name a product, and which do not. Scope: This summarizes one person's published protocol and blog post. It is not medical advice.

What the sources show

A noise machine is in his protocol, as an option

Habit 7 of his January 2026 protocol is "Curate your sleep environment: Ensure your bedroom is quiet, dark, and cool." For quiet, it says "Consider using a noise machine to offset environmental sounds or earplugs if necessary." It does not name a brand. We list the LectroFan Classic, a compact fan and white-noise machine, as one option; it is not confirmed as his current device.

Dark: black out the bedroom

His 2024 post on fixing his sleep says to "blackout your bedroom." Window film or blackout curtains both do the job; we list VELIMAX static-cling blackout film. If the room is fully dark, plan your morning light elsewhere, because habit 9 asks you to get outside within 15-30 minutes of waking.

Cool: 65-70°F now, 60-67°F in 2024

The 2026 protocol says to keep the bedroom around 65-70°F (18-21°C). His 2024 post gave a cooler 60-67°F (15-19°C). Both versions suggest a temperature-controlled mattress if possible, and the protocol names Eight Sleep. A cheap room thermometer tells you which range your bedroom is actually in before you buy anything bigger.

Mattress and pillows

The 2024 post says to "invest in a comfortable mattress and pillows" and to choose breathable bedding and light sleepwear. Neither source names a pillow. We list the ZAMAT contoured memory foam pillow as one option for neck support; it is not confirmed as his.

Measure whether it helps

Habit 10 is "Gather Data: Track your sleep habits and patterns with a journal or sleep tracker." Change one thing at a time, such as adding the noise machine, so the tracker or journal can tell you whether it made a difference.

What the sources do not show

These sources describe the bedroom Bryan Johnson recommends. Apart from Eight Sleep, they do not name the noise machine, blackout product, thermometer or pillow he uses, and they do not show results from any one of them alone.
