Bryan Johnson's Hair Protocol: Growth & Maintenance
Bryan Johnson's complete hair growth and maintenance protocol. Genetically, Bryan should be bald — he started losing hair in his late 20s. Now at 48, he has a full head of hair with less gray. This guide covers his daily routine. Disclaimer: This guide is for informational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice. Protocol Steps
1
Start Early and Be Proactive
Mindset
By age 20, about 20% of men already have some visible hair loss. Many people lose up to 50% of their hair before they notice it's thinning. The key is starting early — prevention is far more effective than regrowth.
2
Red Light Therapy Cap (6 mins daily)
6 mins
Wear a red and near-infrared light therapy cap for 6 minutes daily. Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) stimulates hair follicles, increases blood flow to the scalp, and promotes hair growth.
3
Scalp Massage (1-2 mins daily)
1-2 mins
Massage your scalp daily for 1-2 minutes to increase blood flow to hair follicles. Use a scalp massager brush during shampooing for added stimulation.
4
Topical Minoxidil
2 mins
Apply topical minoxidil 5% solution to the scalp. Minoxidil is one of the most well-studied hair regrowth treatments. Bryan includes it as part of his daily protocol. Apply to areas of thinning using the dropper applicator.
5
Collagen for Hair Health
Included in supplement stack
Supplement with collagen peptides to support hair structure and growth. Bryan takes 11g of collagen peptides daily as part of his supplement stack, which benefits hair, skin, and connective tissue.
6
Nutrition for Hair
Included in diet
Ensure adequate intake of key nutrients for hair health: protein, omega-3 fatty acids, biotin (vitamin B7), vitamins C, D, and E, iron, and zinc. The Blueprint supplement stack covers all of these. A nutrient-poor diet is one of the most common causes of hair loss.
